Citizenship by Descent — Guidance Platform

Your Ancestry May Be Worth
More Than You Think

Discover the citizenship you may already be entitled to. Find out whether you qualify for another citizenship through your ancestors — with the clarity, documents, and guidance you actually need.

How It Works

From uncertainty
to a clear path forward

01

Discover Your Line

Take our eligibility quiz. Enter what you know about your ancestors — names, dates, countries. We'll tell you which citizenship paths may be open to you.

02

Know Your Documents

Get a tailored checklist of every document you need — who issues it, how to request it, what it costs, and the specific apostille and translation requirements for your case.

03

Choose Your Path

Use the free guides to work out whether you qualify, then the country guide to actually execute — or add an hour with us on your specific case. We're honest about what you can handle alone and where you need a lawyer.

Don't Know Your Details?

Know your family emigrated but don't know the details?

Request a preliminary eligibility assessment and genealogical research to see if you qualify for citizenship. If you do, we include the full execution guide for your country — one purchase, $349.

Our Principles

Built on clarity,
not mystification

The citizenship-by-descent industry thrives on complexity. We believe the process is learnable, and most people are capable of more than agencies give them credit for.

Verified & Current

Every legal rule and process on this site carries a 'last verified' date. We actively track law changes — including Italy's contested 2025 reforms, Spain's closed Ley de Nietos window, and Ireland's FBR processing shifts.

Guidance, Not Legal Advice

We organize information and tell you what you need. We don't pretend to be lawyers, and nothing we sell is legal advice. When a case genuinely needs one — a broken chain, a judicial route — we say so instead of selling you something else.

Honest About Costs

We show you exactly what agencies charge, what DIY costs, and where the real complexity lies. If you can handle it yourself, we'll tell you. If you need help, we won't upsell you on what you don't.

Why This Exists

I spent two years and $4,000 in mistakes so you don't have to.

Anyone researching citizenship through an ancestral line finds the same two options: free forum posts that contradict each other, or agencies quoting $12,000+ for a process many people can run themselves.

There is nothing in between — no organized source telling you exactly which documents you need, who issues them, what they actually cost, and which steps you can handle alone versus where you genuinely need a professional.

The gap is expensive. People order the wrong type of birth certificate, twice. They pay a federal agency many times over for a record the county court that issued it sells cheaply. They buy a translation that isn't certified the way the consulate requires. They miss the naturalization-date trap that decides most Italian cases.

None of that is hard to avoid — it just isn't written down in one place, in order. So I wrote it down: organized, dated, cited, and honest about where free guidance ends and professional help begins. Each guide carries you the whole way from “my grandfather came from somewhere over there” to an application you can actually file.

Between my own case and five years working in this field, I have watched where the time and the money go, and the arithmetic here isn't close. A guide is $149. What it replaces is weeks of evenings spent working out which office holds the record, what it costs this year, and which translation the consulate will accept — plus the fees you burn getting those wrong on the first attempt. Save five hours and it has paid for itself. Avoid one duplicate certificate order and it has paid for itself twice.

So I will put a number on it: if a guide doesn't save you at least ten hours of searching, email me within 14 days and I refund you. No strings, no explanation needed.
