Certified Translations for Citizenship Applications

Certified translations are official translations performed by a translator recognized by the destination country's government. For citizenship by descent applications, foreign documents must be translated into the official language of the country where you are applying.

Translation Requirements by Country:
- Italy: Translations must be certified (traduzione asseverata) and legalized at the Italian consulate or by an Italian court
- Ireland: Documents in English generally do not need translation; documents in other languages must be translated and certified
- Poland: Translations must be done by a sworn translator (tłumacz przysięgły) registered in Poland
- Hungary: Translations must be done by a certified Hungarian translator
- Croatia: Translations must be done by a court-appointed translator (sudski tumač)

Process:
1. Obtain the original document and apostille FIRST
2. Find a certified translator from the consulate's approved list
3. Have the document translated
4. Submit the translation with the original document and apostille
